Egerton University, one of Kenya's leading institutions of higher learning, is proud to announce its participation in the 2023 Nakuru Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) National Show. The event, open to the public from 12th to 16th July, has attracted participants from various sectors, and Egerton University has taken this opportunity to showcase its advancements and innovations in research and sustainable economic growth.
The Egerton University team led by Dr J. Nduko showcase high-yielding crops developed by Egerton University researchers at the 2023 Nakuru National Show, highlighting the University's commitment to research excellence and development of climate-smart sustainable farming practices.
Preparations for the Show have been underway for several weeks, spearheaded by the Shows and Exhibition Committee, led by Dr. Eng. Musa Njue. The dedicated team arrived at the venue on 10th July and diligently set up their exhibitions, ensuring a captivating and informative experience for visitors. The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Prof. Bernard Aduda, visited Egerton University's stand on 11th July, adding to the excitement surrounding the institution's preparations and participation in the 2023 Nakuru ASK National Show. He expressed his appreciation for the innovative research and sustainable practices showcased at the Stand, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in addressing the challenges faced the country.
Under the theme of "Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiative for Sustainable Economic Growth," Egerton University aims to highlight the importance of environmentally friendly agricultural practices and their contribution to the nation's economic prosperity. Through our innovations and demonstrations, the University's exhibitors hope to inspire attendees to adopt sustainable farming techniques and participate in climate change mitigation efforts.
Egerton University has registered for several trade classes and categories to compete in this year's event. These include the "Best Stand that Best Interprets the Current Show Theme" under the categories of Education and/or Research. By participating in this category, the University demonstrates its commitment to providing relevant and innovative research.
The University has also entered competitions for the "Best University Stand," showcasing its overall achievements and contributions to the agricultural sector. Additionally, Egerton University aims to secure recognition for the "Best Stand in Research and Development" and the "Best Innovation and Invention Stand," highlighting its ongoing efforts to drive scientific advancements and technological breakthroughs.
The institution also seeks to highlight its engagement in community projects and service, vying for the "Best Organization/Association in Community Projects/Service Stand" award.
Recognizing the importance of empowering the youth and building their capacities, Egerton University has entered the "Best Stand in Youth Activities, Empowerment, and Capacity Building" category. Through this participation, the University demonstrates its commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.
Lastly, Egerton University aims to impress visitors with its advancements in agro-processing, competing for the title of "Best Agro-processing Stand." By showcasing our innovations and technologies in this field, we aim to emphasize the importance of value addition and its impact on the agricultural value chain.
The winners of these categories will be announced today, 12th July, marking the culmination of the university's efforts to showcase its accomplishments in the agricultural sector. Egerton University hopes to bring home several accolades and continue its legacy of excellence in research and sustainable economic growth.
